WARREN Police are searching through a field on the north border of Lordstown for people who jumped from a vehicle after firing shots at pursuing officers after a shooting in Warren.
Details are sketchy as the search is continuing.
According to police scanner traffic, a person was wounded by gunfire shortly before 10 p.m. Police began chasing what was described as the shooter's car east on Washington Street, onto Summit, south Tod Avenue, and west on Hewitt Gifford Road along the border of Warren Township and Lordstown.
Shots were fired at the police cruiser while the chase was still in Warren.
About 10 minutes after 10, the occupants jumped from the vehicle and ran into a field. Police with a thermal camera and tracking dogs are searching a field bordered by the triangle of Hewitt-Gifford, Bacher and Palmyra roads.
One ambulance was dispatched to a store where a shooting reportedly took place. One person was taken to a hospital with a wound that wasn't described.
