HOWLAND - The body of a Howland woman was found in drainage ditch Monday morning, and police believe they have the vehicle involved.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said they believe Antoinette M. Ross, 55, was walking in the 9500 block of King Graves Road when she was struck by a car sometime between 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.
Passing motorists re-ported seeing a body lying in the ditch.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Trumbull County morgue.
"We do have a vehicle of interest right now that we have secured a search warrant for and we are conducting forensic testing on that vehicle now, so we cannot conclusively say that, that vehicle was involved at this time, but we are reasonably sure it was," patrol Lt. Brian Holt told Tribune Chronicle newspartner WYTV 33 News.
Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and forensic evidence will be forwarded to the patrol's crime lab for analysis.
Ross was a former school nursing assistant for the Howland Local School District. School officials said Ross has been on leave from Howland Glen Primary School for the past year and a half.
