SANTA COMES TO MECCA: The Mecca Civic Organization will welcome Santa Claus from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the southwest corner of the circle next to Hole in the Wall. There will be a free lunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Photos will be taken with Santa for $1.
CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT SET: The Trumbull County's Christmas Bird Count will be held Sunday. Birds are counted within a 15 mile diameter circle which includes, Champion, Southington, West Farmington, North Bloomfield, Bristolville, Mecca, Cortland and the Kent State Branch Campus. The CBC has been done nationally since 1900 and in Trumbull County since 1976. The CBC is entered on the National Audubon web site and it is used as a database for bird population research. BOOTS COLLECTED FOR CHILDREN: Pizza Hut, 893 N. Main St., Hubbard, will collect boots and coats to benefit Hubbard Elementary School from 1 to 4 p.m. today. Each donor will receive a free medium cheese pizza.
GROUP TO MEET: The Youngstown Area Weavers Guild will hold its annual holiday luncheon and ornament exchange at 10:30 a.m. today at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. ADOPT A CHILD FOR THE HOLIDAYS: The public can adopt a local foster child during the holiday season by donating a gift card from the Southern Park Mall or Eastwood Mall to Homes For Kids Inc. Homes For Kids is a local non-profit that fosters about 50 local children each year, the majority of whom are pre-teens or teens, who will age out of the child welfare system because they will not be adopted or have chose to not be adopted at this point in their life. The gift cards are also used as a learning tool, as the children will go shopping with their case manager to pick out age appropriate gifts and will learn financial responsibility and social skills. The gift cards are needed by Dec. 18 and can be dropped off at Homes For Kids, 165 E. Park Ave., Niles or mailed to Homes For Kids, 165 E. Park Ave., P.O.
