VIENNA - Margaret L. Johnson, 92, of Vienna, entered peacefully into rest at 7:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Niles, following a brief illness.
Margaret was born June 2, 1921, in Fernwood, the daughter of the late John and Mary Tomko Kostrub, and had resided in the Warren area since 1952. She formerly was of Newton Falls.
She was a 1939 graduate of Newton Falls High School and was employed with Hillside Hospital in Howland as a dietary aide for many years.
Margaret was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Vienna and the Altar and Rosary societies and various organizations, including the PTA, band parents, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
On Sept. 24, 1942, Margaret was united into marriage with Raymond E. Johnson and had shared 31 years together until his passing Jan. 23, 1973.
Memories of Margaret will be remembered and cherished by those she leaves behind, sons, Jeff M. (Elizabeth) Johnson of Columbus, Timothy J. Johnson of Canfield and Joel E. (Sandra) Johnson of Hertford, N.C.; daughter, Melanie J. (James) Jordan of Vienna; sister, Delores Kennedy of Newton Falls; nine grandchildren, Jeremiah (Lorie) Johnson, Chad (Katherine) Johnson, Loren (Marie) Johnson, Greg Johnson, Katherine Johnson, Douglas (Abby) Johnson, Shaun (Patty) Kenney, Adam Jordan and Mackenzie Jordan; and one great-grandchild, Regan Johnson.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; brother, John Kostrub; and sisters, Anna Kostrub, Virginia Kostrub, Sandy Lewis, Mary Pavick and Agnes Kraznaski.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Vienna, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Officiating will be the Rev. Frank Zanni.
Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions take the form of tributes to the St. Thomas the Apostolic Church Building Fund, 4453 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna, OH 44473.
