TOLEDO WOODWARD 68, JOHN F. KENNEDY 66, 2 OT: CANTON - The Eagles and the Polar Bears went back and forth through five quarters, but in the end, Toledo Woodward pulled away in the second overtime to defeat John F. Kennedy at the Hoops for Heart Tournament by Adidas at Walsh University.
Woodward rallied in the fourth, outscoring Kennedy 11-8 to send the game into overtime. In the second overtime, the Polar Bears only needed three points to get the win.
Zackary Usher was the big man for Kennedy, scoring a team-high 25 points and grabbing a high of 21 rebounds. African Grant added 17 points for the Eagles, who are now 1-5 on the year.
LIBERTY 55, HUBBARD 41: HUBBARD - Liberty held Hubbard to 29 percent shooting and used a 13-point, first-half cushion to cruise past the Eagles in a non-conference clash.
Asim Pleas and Cameron Clark combined for 37 of the Leopards' 55 points. Pleas netted 19, and Clark added 18 and four steals for Liberty (4-3), which led 30-17 at the half.
Derek Kopanic and Adam Schroeder led the Eagles with eight points each.
URSULINE 55, LINSLEY ACADEMY 37: YOUNGSTOWN - Desmond McElroy scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Fighting Irish past Linsley Academy.
The game was tied after the first frame, but Ursuline began to pull away in the second. The Fighting Irish solidified the win in the second half, outscoring the Cadets 39-19.
Along with McElroy's effort, Mark Hughes added 12 points for Ursuline (3-2).
