Boardman's Mario Graziani won the 145-pound weight class at the Kenston Invitational on Saturday.
Graziani, a sophomore, beat Jacob Kluding from Norwalk, 5-2, in the finals. The Spartans finished 21st as a team. Fellow sophomore Tyler Dempsey took sixth at 160 pounds.
Poland was the highest local finisher, coming in fifth with 115 points. Four Bulldogs placed, with runners-up finishes by Dante Ginnetti (106) and Michael Audi (182). Anthony Audi earned fourth place at 170, while Anthony Morucci took sixth at 126.
Mitchell Skleres came in fourth for Pymatuning Valley, which finished 25th.
Crestwood won the team title with 133.5 points, edging Garfield Heights' 133. Strongsville was third at 125. West Branch was eighth.
WHEELING PARK INVITATIONAL
Austintown Fitch finished fourth at the Wheeling Park Duals, its highest finish in four years of attending the tournament.
The Falcons earned a 5-3 record at the two-day, 25-team tournament. They recorded wins over Steubenville (36-25), Cameron (72-6), Cabell Midland (39-30), Shadyside (65-12) and George Washington (42-27). Their losses came to eventual champion Parkersburg South (31-22), Harrison (40-24) and Parkersburg (47-25). Austin Stevens, 132 pounds, Zach Mackall, 145, and Isiah Jackson, 160, each earned 7-1 records. Jackson registered seven pins. Camran Rezapourian, 170, went 6-2.
Howland finished 14th with a 2-6 record, but juniors David-Brian Whisler (160) and Mike Bell (285) each went 8-0. The Tigers beat Edgewood (51-22) and East Liverpool (51-27), but lost to Parkersburg South (66-9), Wheeling Park (45-24), Shadyside (44-33), St. Xavier (55-18), Carrollton (54-19) and Woodward (48-14).
SALEM HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Canfield rolled to a team title at the Brian Davidson Memorial Tournament at Salem High School on Saturday.
The Cardinals crowned eight champions and accumulated 364 points. Northwest finished second with 227. Steubenville Central Catholic was third with 220, and Rocky River took fourth with 216.
Placing first for the Cardinals were Kyle West (113 pounds), Korey Frost (120), Georgio Poullas (126), Stephen Daprile (132), Shawn Williams (145), Stan Socha (182), Jaret Bunch (195) and Jacob Esarco (220). Other placers for Canfield were Braxton Madison (second, 138 pounds), Bryan Batton (second, 152) and David Hofsess (third, 170).
Liberty finished 10th. The Leopards' Joey Leshnack took fourth at 160 pounds.
GIRARD HOLIDAY DUALS
Girard went 5-0 at the Girard Duals on Saturday.
The Indians beat Conneaut (75-6), Waterloo (59-21), Cardinal (60-20), Grand Valley (62-12) and West Branch B (40-30). Winning all their matches were Zane Chase (132), Ed Sigurani (138) and Nick Cardiero (170).
Girard is at the Jackson-Milton Tournament on Saturday.
