Mon 12:10a.m.: Man wounded by gunfire in northwest Warren

December 30, 2013
Tribune Chronicle |

WARREN A man was shot and Warren police were searching the neighborhood in the 400 blocks of Penn and Iowa avenues N.W., near the intersection of Ward Street N.W., Sunday night and this morning looking for evidence at what was called two crime scenes.

Several people called police about 11:20 p.m. Sunday to report hearing a series of gunshots. While police were searching the area, someone called about 11:35 p.m. to report a shooting victim lying in her flower bed. The victim was alive and taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The search seemed to center on yards between the parallel streets of Penn and Iowa avenues. Some witnesses were reporting that shots were fired from a vehicle. Police reported finding a trail of shell casings leading up to a porch in the neighborhood.

Additional information was unavailable as police remained on the scene early this morning. This story will be posted later this morning as updates become available.
