NILES - Marilyn "Mickey" Gatta, 85, of Niles, died at 1:08 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 24, 1928, in Painesville, the daughter of Charles and Edith Mosier.
Mickey was employed as a waitress at Alberini's Restaurant, owned and operated the restaurant at the Youngstown Airport, and was one of the first Avon Ladies.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, the Mount Carmel Society and the Renewal Team and volunteered at bingo at the church's festival.
She loved animals, enjoyed cooking, baking homemade bread, gardening, sewing, flowers and traveling.
Her husband, Dominick L. Gatta, whom she married Oct. 4, 1945, died Nov. 20, 2013.
Her daughter, Antoinette "Toni" Ross, passed away Dec. 8, 2013.
Mickey, who made her house her home, will be deeply missed by a son, Dominic (Charlotte) Gatta of Niles; six daughters, Pat (Butch) Gelet of Hubbard, Sandi (Gabe) Marchionte of McDonald, Gerri (George) Rohan of North Lima, Marilyn (Charlie) Davis of Niles, Heidi (Jim) Swift of Niles and Katrina "Tina" (Steve) Brill of Howland; a son-in-law, John Ross II of Howland; and was proud of her 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Mosier and David Mosier.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles with Father John-Michael Lavelle officiating.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
Arrangements are being held by the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles
