'Tis the season to recycle trees. Free Christmas tree recycling collections are being held throughout the area.
The recycling is being sponsored by the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District and Trumbull County commissioners.
Ornaments, hooks, tinsel and stands must be removed from trees.

Trees can be dropped off at the following locations:
l Cortland Service Department at Willow Park, 184 Willow Drive, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 17.
l ?Curbside collection for Cortland residents will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 7 and 14.
l Howland Public Works Department, 3600 North River Road, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 6 to 17. Help with unloading trees is available.
l Howland residents will have curbside collection Jan. 6 to 14.
l Hubbard Road Department parking lot, 2600 Elmwood Drive, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Feb. 1, seven days a week.
l Johnston Maintenance Garage, 4424 Greenville Road, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday and Jan. 6 to 8. Help unloading trees is available.
l Warren, Packard Music Hall parking lot, 1703 Mahoning Ave. N.W., to Jan. 19, daylight hours, seven days a week.

The Mahoning County Green Team will offer recycling sites throughout the area for live Christmas trees. Trees will be collected and reused as natural fish habitats at area lakes. To recycle live trees, all decorations must be removed.
Trees can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Jan. 31 at the following locations:
l Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.
l Youngstown, CCA (Old South Branch Library), 1771 Market St.
