There are seven candles, each representing a Kwanzaa principle, also referred to with the Swahili phrase "Nguzo Saba." Kwanzaa's fifth principle, "Nia," which translates to "Purpose," was celebrated Monday night. There are two days of Kwanzaa left, with "Kuumba" (Creativity) on Tuesday and "Imani" (Faith) on Wednesday.
