LORDSTOWN - After a few recent weather-related shift cancellations at the General Motors complex here, workers today will begin making up the work and the lost hours with Saturday shifts.
Workers are scheduled to work Saturday shifts today and Feb. 8, said Glenn Johnson, president of United Auto Workers Local 1112.
Information provided by the union indicates the two overtime Saturday shifts are being scheduled due to recent loss of production and projected increase of sales for the Chevy Cruze.
Inclement weather contributed to the plant's decision to shutdown for four shifts this month when shipments of necessary parts were delayed, Johnson said.
More Saturday shifts may be added as necessary based on demand, Johnson said.
